The Lego Movie (2014): Film Review- Everything IS AWESOME

Directed by: Phil LordChristopher Miller Written by: Phil Lord (screenplay), Christopher Miller(screenplay), 4 more credits Starring: Will Arnett, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth BanksAlison Brie, Will Ferrell

The blurb says “The LEGO (R) Movie is the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO (R) adventure. The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet (Chris Pratt) an ordinary, rules- following, perfectly average LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under-prepared”

What I thought: The Lego Movie is a joyous, wonderful explosion of colour, fun and creativity. It is as daft as it is clever and full of moments that will delight both children and grown-up children alike. It has a distinctly subversive message, which will delight liberal parents and inspire children. The voice acting is all first rate and had me in stitches throughout, ensuring Will Arnett is now the definitive Batman in my mind.

Everything IS awesome.
